I work in the computer industry and my wife loves Christmas lights. Starting several years ago I began experimenting with controllable led lights on our house during Christmas. People commonly call them pixels. What makes these unique is that every pixel can be any color and can quickly change to other colors. There are not many houses in the area that use pixels because they are honestly kinda hard to do. These are all custom setups and involve an odd mix of computer design, electronics knowledge and physically building it. Our house contains over 2,000 synchronized pixels.
